Nebraska Volunteer Council members in Omaha, Bellevue, and Lincoln provide information and referral to a wide variety of statewide resources. Individualized information and assistance is also provided in such areas as educational advocacy, the Americans with Disabilities Act, access to medication assistance programs, and referral to epileptologists and neuropsychologists. Contact Cara Witkowski for assistance in these areas. |
Members of the Nebraska epilepsy community participate in statewide and national efforts to increase awareness of epilepsy and funding for epilepsy research and services. Speak Up, Speak Out is a grassroots advocacy network that connects citizens with their federal elected officials on issues of national importance to the epilepsy community. Kids Speak Up! is a national conference for youth leaders with epilepsy. It provides 7-16 year olds with a unique opportunity to educate elected officials and staff about seizure disorders. |
Discovering that they aren't alone is one of the most important experiences that some people affected by epilepsy have. Support groups introduce you to others who understand and share your experience and give you a forum for learning about resources, exploring options, and making new friends. Nebraska Support Groups are offered in Omaha and Lincoln. |
