What Is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. A seizure is a brief disruption of electrical activity in the brain. Epilepsy is sometimes called a "seizure disorder". Both terms have the same meaning. Click on the links above to learn more about epilepsy .

  • a disease
  • a form of mental illness
  • mental retardation or a sign of low intelligence
